Sent Crypto to the Wrong Address or Network?

Did Something Go Wrong When Sending Crypto?

We can try to recover crypto that was sent to the wrong network or address. Here we explain how it works and what you should do next.

How Can Crypto Be Sent the Wrong Way?

There are many different blockchains and networks, and many cryptocurrencies can exist on several of them.

If you use different exchanges, wallets, and cryptocurrencies, it’s important to double-check everything before sending.

The most common mistake is sending crypto through the wrong network.

For example:
You send USDC using the Polygon network to an Ethereum address on your exchange account.

Many blockchains — like Ethereum, Polygon, and BNB Chain — use the same address format. This means the address can look completely correct, even if the network is wrong.

It’s a bit like sending a letter to the correct street address, but in the wrong city.

Always make sure you select the correct network before sending crypto.

Let’s use another example:

USDC can be sent on several different networks. But when sending to Firi, you must use a network that Firi supports.

If you send USDC from another crypto exchange, for example Binance, Binance cannot know whether your receiving address at Firi only supports ERC20 or also supports other networks.

Because of this, Binance will not stop the transaction.

That’s why it’s important to check which networks are supported by Firi before sending crypto from another platform.

Other common mistakes include sending one type of crypto to an address intended for another type of crypto (for example, sending Bitcoin to an Ethereum address), or simply entering the wrong address by mistake (even though most wallets include features such as checksums that help prevent this).

Read this article explaining how to transfer crypto to Firi correctly.

Is it possible to recover crypto sent to the wrong address/network?

Recovering crypto sent to the wrong address/network is a manual and technical process. It requires special tools and time from our developers and security team.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the funds can be recovered. But we will do our best to help.

Service Fee

Because this process requires time and resources, a service fee applies. We will inform you about the service fee before starting the recovery process.

No recovery — no fee.

You only pay if we successfully recover your funds.

How to Start the Recovery Process

We understand that this can be stressful. Please follow these steps carefully so we can help you as quickly as possible.

1. Don’t Do Anything Else

Do not try to fix the problem yourself by:

  • Sending more crypto
  • Connecting your wallet to unknown websites or services
  • Using “recovery services” you find online

This can make the problem worse or expose you to scams.

2. Collect All Information

We need as much information as possible about the transaction.

Please send us:

  • Transaction ID (TxID)
  • Which cryptocurrency you sent (for example USDC)
  • The amount you sent
  • Which network you used (for example Polygon)
  • The address you sent the funds to

3. Contact Customer Support

Create a support case and include all the information from step 2.

The more details you provide, the faster we can investigate the case.

You can contact us at:
[email protected]

Or open a chat with us in the Firi app.

4. Review and Approval

Our team will review the case and check whether recovery is possible.

If we believe the funds can be recovered, we will send you:

  • Information about the recovery process
  • The terms and conditions
  • The service fee

You must approve this before we start.

5. Wait for Updates

Once the recovery process starts, it can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks depending on the complexity of the case.

We will keep you updated throughout the process.
